NCERT's three-day conference on 'Emerging Trends and Innovations in School Sciences' held in Bhopal

Three-day international conference on 'Emerging Trends & Innovations in School Sciences' from February 6 to 8 was held by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) at Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhopal, MP.

The inaugural addresses on the first day of the conference will be made by Prof. R. J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, Barkatullah University, Bhopal; Shobhit Jain, Secretary, School Education Govt of M.P,


and Prof. Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director, NCERT, New Delhi.

The technical sessions began after setting the tone for the conference by the keynote address of Dr. Sudhakar C Aggarkar, Professor and Dean, VPM's Academy of International Education and Research , Thane , Maharashtra. His address dwelled on the Challenges of Science Education in Contemporary World.

The second day began with the Keynote address on 'Concerns of Science Education in 21st Century' by Dr. Piyush Swami, Professor Emeritus, University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.  In all, there were18 technical sessions in which papers were presented by the researchers from different countries. My research paper submitted from Disha, Jaipur was scheduled in the Technical Session titled Emerging Trends in Curriculum and Assessment in Science on day-2 at Raman Hall of the venue but could make it to the session. 

The paper "Making Science Learning Process-Based: Low Cost Science Experiences Related to Spin, Swirl and Sway" by Dr Lalit Kishore is  a design cum development related intervention  experimental science sessions for 10 days at rate of one session of one hour per day followed by one day review. An action plan for action research was developed with pre-active phase (one weeks, 2 hours a day for identifying and proposing 12 activities) and interactive phase (two-week transaction of activities and one day review through responses and reactions of students) along with self-reflection and two week post-active phase of writing the report a documents action research for recognition and dissemination. the motivation for the topic came after reading the topic 'Turn, Twist and Topple' in the book titled 'Physics is Fun' Another topic titled 'Spin' Swirl and Sway' was created and transacted to which students reacted significantly positive.
