Wild elephant attack: Sabarimala pilgrim killed

Pampa: A pilgrim on way to Sabarimala Lord Ayappa temple was killed in a wild elephant attack on the forest pathway to the shrine. Tamil Nadu Salem native Paramasivam (38) was killed in the attack.

The incident took place neat Vallithod on the stretch of Erumeli- Pampa forest route on Wednesday.

Though forest officials and other pilgrims took the injured Paramasivam to Mundakkayam government hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary.

It is reported that wild elephants used to stray onto this pathway.

A similar case was also reported in 2018. Chennai native Nireesh Kumar was killed in a wild elephant attack in the forest pathway on January 7, 2018.
