MJ Akbar to return to India amid sexual harassment allegations; BJP to clear stand today

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar embroiled in sexual harassment allegations leveled by a number of women will be returning to India today. As per the sources he will be giving explanations on the charged levelled upon him in the wake of the recent MeToo movement.

The Rajya Sabha MP is about to land in Indian at around 8 am.

The Bharatiya Janata Party which is silent over the accusations of the senior party leader will be clearing its stand after Akbar’s statement. Akbar’s future in the union cabinet will be decided thereafter.

Akbar, who was on a trip abroad, has so far not offered any comment in public over the issue. Union ministers and BJP spokespersons have mostly declined to answer any query on Akbar.

The Congress party has been vocally demanding the resignation of Akbar. It has said he should either issue a satisfactory explanation or resign.

Several women have shared their stories of sexual harassment by Akbar when he was an editor of a newspaper on the social media, where the #MeToo movement is raging on for days.
