Hema Malini will play Balayya’s mother in the star’s 100th film.
When it comes to suspending disbelief, Tollywood can really test your limits. While reports of Indian cinema’s ‘Dream Girl’ making a comeback in Tollywood after 35 years have been around, the news that she will be playing Balakrishna’s mother in Gautamiputra Satakarni, has caused a lot of jaws to drop. And we got the confirmation from none other than Balayya himself. “Yes, Hema Malini will be playing the role of Gautami Balashri, Satakarni’s mother in the film,” says Balakrishna, adding that she will sign on the dotted line soon.
Gautamiputra Satakarni, to be directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, is the landmark 100th film for Balayya. And so, the cast for the movie is something of a big deal. About the speculation that the team is also looking for a leading actress from B’ town to play Satakarni’s wife, Vasishti, Balayya says, “We are still deliberating over who to cast. An official announcement will be made soon.”
Way before she claimed the title, ‘Dream girl’, Hema Malini appeared in the 1965 film, Pandava Vanavasam and went on to make an appearance in Sri Krishna Rajyam.
