Chennai: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Tuesday informed the Madras high court that no cognizable offence is made out on the complaint from DMK against Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami, alleging irregularities in the award of contracts for road projects in the state.

Advocate general Vijay Narayan made the submission when the petition filed by R.S.Bharathi, organizing secretary of DMK, came up for hearing before Justice A.D.Jagdish Chandira.

The judge reserved orders after hearing arguments from both sides.

Earlier, senior counsel N.R.Elango, appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has lost confidence on DVAC as it was supporting the chief minister from day one. Since the petitioner came to the conclusion that DVAC will not conduct a fair investigation, he has filed an additional affidavit seeking SIT probe, Elango added.

Denying the allegation, advocate general submitted that on the complaint made by Bharathi, the DVAC conducted a preliminary enquiry as per the procedures laid down and forwarded its findings to Vigilance Commissioner.
