20 quacks including teachers found prescribing medicines in Pattan
Baramulla: Much to the surprise of everyone, health department on Friday found 18 employees of education department, an employee of PHE and Sericulture besides some class 8th pass persons were prescribing medicines to the people for different ailments in Pattan area of north Kashmir.
Continuing its drive against fake health Practitioners, health department officials also sealed 11 drug stores and health clinics on Thursday evening.
Block Medical Officer Pattan Dr Masrat Iqbal Wani said that from past two months his office received several complaints from general public that several employees mostly government school teachers and other non-professionals have opened their drug stores and clinics and are prescribing medicines to poor illiterate patients in various far flung villages.
It is pertinent to mention that 44 Drug drug stores and clinics were sealed from past 15 days in Pattan area.
BMO said the most of the illegal business centres were found in Chenabal, Mirgund, Several, Yakmanpora, Khanpath, Matipora, Palpora, Hyder Beigh and other villages.
BMO said the department registered over 30 cases against the owners of these business centres while several official letters were sent to education and PHE department for necessary action against the accused persons who were playing with the lives of innocent people.
Meanwhile, the sources said that ZEO Pattan Nuzhat forwarded his detailed report to CEO Baramulla for further action after receiving it from the health department.
“Yes we received a detailed report from health department and I forward it to CEO Baramulla for further action,” she said.
