Major thrust on reducing school drop outs: Mishra

East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra on Tuesday advised the officials of the education department to give major thrust on reducing the dropout rate at upper primary and secondary level for promoting education.

Reviewing the functioning of the education department at a meeting held at Collectorate here, he asked them to be prepared for taking steps for admitting the dropouts at the time of reopening of school after summer vacations.

He also suggested them that the improvement of gross enumeration ratio was essential in education department for promoting primary education. Pointing out that the district has achieved 97.97 percent results in the recent SSC public examination, Mr Mishra has directed them to strive for achieving cent percent results in the next year.

He added the district level officers of various departments would be asked to adopt the social welfare hostels to improve the educational standards in these hostels. Joint Collector Dr Mallikharjuna, Joint Collector 2 Radhakrishnamurty, DEO Abraham and project officer Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Seshagirirao took part in the deliberations.
