Students continue indefinite strike at AMU

Amidst meetings of Aligarh Muslim University administration and students' union, indefinite strike of students continued on 14th day on Tuesday.

Student union president Mashqur Ahmad Usmani, secretary Mohammad Fahad, former president Faizul Hasan and Nabeel Usmani were sitting on hunger strike from Monday after their meetings with varsity administration went fruitless. Panic triggered in the area after the decision of general body of the council.

AMU Public relation department in-charge Professor Shafe Kidwai here on Tuesday said that 16-member committee of university was in regular connection of agitated students. He said that peaceful resolution will come soon.

Health of two students Arfa and Reeba Ali, sitting on hunger strike, deteriorated on Monday, following that they were shifted to J N Medical college. Earlier Mohammad Nadeem, Sajjad Subhan were shifted to the hospital.

Students sitting on strike were demanding quash of cases against 300 students and judicial enquiry of May 2 incident in AMU premises. Thought students have declared that they will not interfere in annual and entrance examinations of university.
